Claro Walnut Lumber Supply
The claro walnut tree pictured here was planted in Sacramento California in the late 1880's and was harvested in 1994 due to failing health. This extraordinary claro walnut tree will live again in the form of handcrafted furniture as well as masterfully crafted musical instruments, collectible gunstocks and high-end accessories. We derive a great deal of satisfaction by having the opportunity to save these trees for posterity. Not so many years ago these walnut trees would have likely ended up as firewood or simply been buried and left to rot.

This is my good friend Rich, when he is not flying C-17's for the U.S. Air Force he helps us rescue claro walnut trees.

Hard to believe that the claro walnut log pictured here is a limb sawn from the massive tree displayed at the top of this page.

These are the sawn slabs from the claro walnut limb displayed above. They were milled 3 1/4" thick and measure 24" to 38" wide by 13' long. These claro walnut slabs display an extraordinary curl pattern running their entire length. The rule of thumb for air drying claro walnut slabs to 10% moisture content or less is one year of drying for every inch of thickness.
