|Walnut orchards in California use black walnut (Juglans hindsii) as a root stock and english walnut (Juglans regia) as the commercially valuable nut producer. The photo below on the right displays two grafted walnut trees. The tree on the left has been grafted at approximately 7 feet while the tree on the right has been grafted just above ground level. The picture on the far left displays two sequentially sawn claro walnut grafted slabs harvested from a 75 year old orchard log. The slabs are almost a 50/50 mix of English and Claro Walnut.|
