This is a one in a million Claro walnut burl that weighed 7,455 pounds. The upright shape is known in the industry as a "standing burl". This is one of the largest recorded walnut burls harvested in the state of California. The unusual looking structure in the background to the right is called a "Teepee Burner". Decades ago teepee burners were commonly used for the disposal of wood chips and sawdust.
