This 3 inch thick by 30 inch wide "rough sawn" sample pictured on the left is cut from the 150 year old California Claro Walnut tree pictured on the right. The gentleman standing next to this historic tree is Robert Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers was our crew chief on this job. Due to the extensive damage done by years of mistletoe infestation, this beautiful giant finally had to be removed. Through research we discovered this tree was planted along the original wagon trail that led from John Sutters Fort in Sacramento California, to one of the first areas settled in Davis California, in the early 1850's.
